Sledding down Addison Street

Pax got his first sled ride yesterday, and he seemed very perplexed by the experience.  I was sure he was going to laugh and scream for joy as I pulled him along, but instead he seemed to be in deep thought.  Perhaps he was wondering what the icy white stuff was all over the ground or he may have been thinking, "Mom, take me inside, I'm freezing my cute little butt off!"   I did catch just a moment of excitement on this video though.
Happy Holidays!

Happy Halloween!

What a great day!  We started out with a scary storytime at the Book Cellar and then enjoyed some fun in Lincoln Square before having a yummy lunch with my parents at Bad Dog.  I finally decided to wear my entire bear costume since it was so cold out there today!

Failed attempts to get Pax to wear the bear costume...

Pax's 1st Halloween Parade

Here's our little teddy bear!  He refuses to wear the ears which are so cute... oh well, maybe next year!  He liked the marching band, and didn't really understand the trick or treating part... his face seemed to say "why is everyone handing out plastic wrappers?"  Just think of how excited he'll be the year he realizes what is inside the plastic wrapper!

Paxton Update, July 2, 2009: Pax had his 9 month checkup on Tuesday, June 30th, and he is now 23 lbs. 11 oz. and he's 29 1/2 inches tall (I like to say tall instead of long now that he's getting vertical a lot more often).  He's standing up alongside anything he can get his hands on, and every once in awhile he lets go and can stand for about two seconds before he plops onto his bottom.  He can also take steps while holding onto someone's hands.  He loves meeting new people and is a total flirt... he stares at people until they look at him and then he gives them a huge grin and tucks his chin down as if he's shy.  So cute.  Just a few days ago he started to talk more.  He likes to say "ba, ba, ba..."  and I've even heard a "ma ma" thrown in there.  It's so funny when he gets going, but I have yet to catch it on camera since he clams up when he knows he's being taped.  He hasn't been sleeping through the night, but I think his top two front teeth are giving him a hard time.  Last night was the worst night we've had since he was a newborn... he was up every one or two hours and he wanted to sleep but just couldn't get comfortable.  Poor guy!  I guess he's anxious to get those teeth in now that our pediatrician told us he can eat more solids... now he's able to eat berries, all types of cheeses, yogurt (he loves yogurt), and we can start him on some meat!  If he's anything like his Daddy, he's going to be eating steak in no time!  I tried some cottage cheese yesterday and he was a little confused by the curds at first (everything he's had up until now has been pretty soupy, no chunks), but he ended up liking it after he figured out how to mash up the curds in his mouth and swallow them.   The first couple spoonfuls just sat in his mouth and he made a face like "what do I do with this?!"  Funny, the kid could eat an entire magazine (he loves paper), but a little cottage cheese and he doesn't know how he can possibly swallow it!

Paxton and Alexa

Paxton has a lady friend who lives just above him in the same building... very convenient.  Her name is Alexa and she is super cute!  They like to lounge in the kiddie pool and he often takes her toys away from her... we're working on sharing.

Thank goodness for baby gates!

Uh oh, Mom caught me playing in the pantry again!

Standing at the coffee table in his Bears pj's from Nana.

Having fun at Aunt Cindy and Uncle Kevin's! Grandpa Tank was there to play with!

Pax loves his cousins Avery and Addie!

Unfortunately, we didn't get a picture of Paxton with Addie as well, but she helped Mom take care of Paxton the entire time we visited.  We'll get a picture of him and Addie on here soon... and by the way... Happy Birthday, Addison!

My sharp dressed men!

Go Cubs Go!

Paxton is now crawling and standing up all the time.  He is such a little boy now.  He is on the go, which means Mom and Dad are getting a workout too!  It's been so much fun watching him explore the world.  He loves tearing up magazines and trying to eat them... but, so far I think we've prevented him from actually ingesting any.  He also loves getting into the pantry closet and playing with the V8 cans in there, and he is always trying to get on top of the fireplace hearth... thank goodness I bought a bunch of rubber to go around the sharp edges of the hearth last week.  They have saved him from a few bumps and bruises already.  He is now eating three meals a day and seems to really enjoy his lunch of yogurt!  I just put my finger in his mouth today and think I felt a little bit of a top tooth coming in.  We haven't posted many photos lately, so I'm going to try to post a bunch today... enjoy!
